The book runs the full arc: the pre-Civil War origins of the brim, the cap on the field and the cap in the street, the makers who built the thing and the cultures that gave it meaning. It moves through the league that started it, the artists and labels who rewrote what the cap could say, the cities that claimed it, the resale economy that prices it, and the rooms, here and overseas, where the next colorway is decided.
It is not a coffee-table picture book and it is not a brand history. It treats the cap the way a good music critic treats a genre: seriously, and with an ear for where the meaning actually lives.
Much of the book is built on original, on-the-record interviews with the people who make these caps, sell them, and built the culture that surrounds them. They are the ones who get to say what really happened. Those conversations are still going.
